Media magazine Production

Programme format
My music show production will be in the form of a music magazine show similar to T4 in the way they set their show out by having the latest guests on to talk about their music with what is up to date with the age range which I have aimed my show, the studio will be similar to T4 in certain areas such as the seating arrangement and the color scheme the color scheme will be bright vibrant and appealing. The lighting and seating arrangement will be similar to the picture below of the set of T4 when they do their music magazine shows it is spacious, vibrant and low key which would appeal to the particular audience and would look good within my multi camera media magazine production the lighting would be very subtle but still appealing like in the picture below the lighting is subtle but still has an appeal and an edge to it for the audience it is eye catching and will hopefully keep the viewers attention throughout the music video magazine show.

In this picture in the background the lighting is  subtle but appealing to the audience my show  would be similar in terms of having subtle colours I  in the background which still manage to have a  certain edgy appealing look to the audience in  order to keep their attention.

.

Name of the show
The name of my multi camera production is going to be called Drop the Bass, the show will last up to or just over 30 minutes over all, I chose the name drop the base as it sounds fun and energetic and interesting for the audience as well as this it connotes what the show is going to be about as it uses the word base within the main title connoting that the show will mainly be about music and music videos. The age range for the show would be teenagers the title of the show is edgy and creative which would appeal to the general audience of teenagers who are watching the show will contain all of the latest trends within the music scene and be very edgy creative and appealing for that said age range.

Content Ideas
My show will have quizzes which will involve the audience either calling or via a form of social networks for the guests to answer for example, the audience could phone in or tweet a description of an artist or a song and the guest would have to try and guess which artists or song they are trying to describe to the guest which come on the show there will be a timer and it will be quickfire rounds to make it more intense and fast paced. Another idea is to do a a blurred face competition the face of a well known artist in the music industry will come up but only a bit of his face will be shown and will be blurred out and the guests have to try and workout who it is. This would be good as it is interesting and it will allow the show to be engaging with the audience as it involves them rather than being a basic interview show with the guest themselves the audience can be involved and interact as well and have an input into what happens within the show, the competition will be quick fire rounds which will make it more fast paced and interesting similar to the show below, it contains quickfire rounds with the guest  how ever with mine the guest will not be the only one who is involved with the interaction the viewers can call in and be involved and interact and ask the guest key questions. By the end of the show there will be a twitter question of the day from the viewers whoever came up with the best twitter question for the guest in particular wins a prize.

Running times
 1) introduction of the show from the host about the show (Duration) 2 minutes

11) cuts to music video being played (Duration) 3 Minutes

16) host then ends the show "that's all we have time for big round of applause for our guests its been amazing having you on join us again same place same time for DROP THE BASS!" (Duration) 2 minutes)

Studio design
The Studio layout will be similar to the set of T4 when they do their interviews with the layout of the seating arrangement there will be a sofa which allows the camera to pick up on all of the guests faces and reactions within one shot from the middle in between the sofas and the guests, the show will contain sofas and a swivel chair for the host the guest will be seated on the sofa when asked the questions and when they are greeted on. Similar to the picture below of the T4 set with the sofas how ever the host for my show will have swivel chairs while the guest have the sofa. In terms of camera placement the picture below shows the camera arrangement for one of my cameras in where it is going to be placed in order to get the whole cast and crew within one shot, on the opposite side there will be an identical camera set up in terms of angle and positioning the capture when the host is talking as well as when the guests are talking. The final camera would be in the middle for a shot which is fairly close to get everyone in the shot at one time if multiple people are talking at one particular time within the show.

Sketch of Background
The background colours would be subtle but appealing at the same time low lit subtle colors but not to low lit, the lighting will be bright enough so that the audience can see everything, i will place the logo in the middle of the set because when the cameras move the logo can be seen from every angle and aspect, the colours would be like a light subtle shade of blue similar to the blue within my logo for the volume logo but a darker shade so the logo will still be visible and would still stand out to the audience and viewer in mind. The colour which I would like for the back ground is something similar to the shade and design of the blue below with the bubble design with the shows logo in the middle this looks appealing but also not too bright or dark its a subtle colour which is the style I wanted to go for a relaxed subtle sort of vibe or feeling for the show which I have gone for.

Visual style

the visual style I have gone for with my multi camera production is very subtle colours mainly dark colours not to bright the presenters would wear very casual clothing nothing to bright and colourful and bright colours that aren't too bright but something which has the same impact and appeal as something colourful, I have taken inspiration from the T4 presenters there style of clothing isn't too bright and bold but still has the same impact as presenters, the colour scheme will be mostly containing dark colours such as blues reds and other colours, the

Presentation style
The presentation style would be very informal and relaxed as it is appealing to a young audience they wouldn't like a show which was formal and monotone, they would find it boring and unappealing, although I want the show to be funny and lively I do not want the show to become overly happy and cliché with the levels of happiness the presenters would be energetic but not too energetic so that it becomes awkward for the audience to watch I would prefer my presenters to have a more relaxed approach whilst still making it look energetic and humorous to a certain extent like small jokes within the script to keep the comedy within the show but without having too much humour which the audience may find boring to watch after a while.

production meeting 4

During this week I have taken the lighting techniques which I had researched within the previous lesson and  incorporated that within the master script I used them to create the timings of the lighting techniques for example which lighting needs to be used and which time and angle they will need to be set at I used it according to what types of shots there were and which lighting would suit that shot.
I worked with a lot of the classmates within media along side the master script and the lighting techniques I worked with Jasmeet the director to see which lighting would suit the shots she went for as well as Jasmeet I worked with the floor manager Prinul to see where the presenters and the cameras would be in line of the lighting as well then used it in the master script and saved it up.
During this week I worked well with the master script in doing the shots according to the lighting I worked well with the deadline which was asked by Jasmeet and sir I took the shots and did them one shot by one to make sure I didn't make any mistakes and to avoid any future mistakes.
The things I would change is the types of lighting I used in some areas and maybe the tints I would go for a wider range of coloured tints within each shot to vary them and get a wider range of choice and selection for the shots, I don't feel that I would change much else within my area of the task the lighting department
I worked well with my peers I worked well with Jasmeet and Kaval as they both helped me with my lighting element of my job roles they were both really helpful and gave good ideas and advice on what to do within each shot of the master script and which lighting would look good within each shot for the multi camera production which we will be creating for this module.

production meeting 3

During this week I researched the different types of lighting techniques which are used in these productions and how they are used and where they are used. After I had gotten the eight different types of lighting techniques I drew little diagrams of them to get myself familiar with them and to see how they are used and how they work after doing this I worked with Kaval to test the different combinations of tints and took pictures of the different combos to see how the tints would look and how they would turn out on camera which I then wrote up edited and uploaded to my blogger.
During this week I found the pictures to be quite successful I understood the lighting techniques well and was able to use them myself and understand the terminology.
The things in which I need to change is some of the pictures as a couple of them did not come out correctly and were incorrectly named so I will go home and change the during the weekend.
For next week’s lesson I will be creating the queue for the lighting timings and other things which will go towards the master plan for the class and the production altogether.
I worked well with my peers I worked well with Jasmeet and Kaval as they both helped me with my lighting element of my job roles they were both really helpful and gave good ideas and advice.

production meeting 2

The points I had bought up within the second weekly reflection meeting for our production was the areas in which the lighting would be located on set on the day of our multi camera live production, in order to do this I had to work with the floor manager and create a plan of the room to get a better idea of where the lights would need to go in order to achieve the best look on camera possible when it came to the final production. The reason I had chose to create a plan was because I had little knowledge of the room and when I showed my initial ideas of the lighting position there were many faults and so I thought it was best to create a plan in which everything was highlighted like the cameras so I would know where to place the Lighting without hindering the others within their own individual job roles, this helped me to explain my role of the lighting to the class a bit better than what I had initially done. There were many successful elements within our group, in order to stay in touch and communicate ideas outside of school we created a group chat with the members of the class via whatsapp in order to give and receive ideas regarding not only my ideas but other class mates ideas which could benefit my job role. The things which needed to be changed which I had done through that lesson or following lessons was to create a floor plan similar to the way prinul had done his plan which would help me make my role easier and for the final production to run as smooth as possible within minimal errors. Next week I intend to discuss with the group on what there roles are so I can help with what lighting they want how they want it to create a plan before we begin filming the production.
I worked well with the peers they gave me good advice and improvement in my area of the roles and gave me good criticism I learnt a lot of new things within this group.

Risk assessment forms

this is my risk assessment form for my lighting part role of the production
below are some pictures to illustrate and highlight each point regarding the risk assessment it outlines what I am talking about and gives clear indication of how it can be avoided as it is being illustrated according to what the text has said

Risk assessment for lighting director

Production meeting reflection 1

The first of the many weekly production meetings of our media multi camera production was done within a classroom round a table with our class mates as well as the teachers, we all began slowly going around the table pitching our own individual ideas to each other and began picking the things that we found to be good elements for the ideas and some elements which we didn't feel was strong or very appealing for the audience at home. The discussion was slow to start off being that people were nervous to speak within a group of people but after a while we felt comfortable in exchanging ideas and began doing so.The response in which my classmates gave for my idea was that although it was a good idea at first there were some areas which lacked creativity flair or ingenuity when it came to things like games which were going to be involved in the show the games had been done in many multi camera productions and did not seem very original, however they did like the idea of the blurred face game which was creative however was still similar to what a lot of other shows were doing in terms of games. The group liked the name of my show "drop the bass"and the way I added the audience interaction for things such as the twitter question of the day which allowed the audience to follow along and interact from home.  After discussion we had all decided to go for Jada's idea of creating a show called "the beat" which I found to be an original name which clearly connoted the shows genre and atmosphere to the audience, the aspects which I liked were some of the games she had gone for which I thought were original and hadn't been done before like the guess the face game I thought was fun for the guest and the audience if they were playing at home.
However I did not feel like the title of the show had a good colour scheme it blended in with the spray paint effect in the background and was not clearly visible for the view at home

Multi Camera Job Roles

There are many job roles within multi camera productions which need to be fulfilled to the highest quality the people who have these job roles need to have a certain set of skills within the criteria in which they are involved with for the multi camera production. If they did not have these many job roles the overall production would not be to the highest standard and quality and would not be as eye catching and appealing to the audience which it is aimed at. Within multi  camera production there are 10 roles which need to be fulfilled for the production to look good
 . Directing
 . Camera Operator
 . Sound Mixing
 . Vision Mixing
  . Set Designer
 . Lighting Desk
 . Floor Manager
 . Graphics Generation
 . VT operator
 . Presenter

Director
the director for the production is in charge of what the production looks like and sounds like, they are in charge of the cameras position in which they are placed at and the angle they are set in order to make the production achieve the look and standard which the director is going for. They are also in charge of the sound which goes into the production and at what time they go in.

The director role requires a number of duties in which the director need to have in order to be able to do the role for the multi camera production. The director of the production must pay attention to everything even to the minuscule small things and have good attention to detail during the directing of the production, another duty in which the director needs to perform when doing his role within the multi camera production is that they should be able to lead a team successfully with where cameras should go and what to do and when to do it in order to make the production flow smoothly and look of high quality. As well as having duties to perform for their roles they have to have a set of certain qualifications to do their role effectively these qualifications include they must have a detailed understanding of movies and multi camera productions are made before beginning any filming or script writing, this links in with another qualification which directors need to have which is the ability to be able to write a a script correctly which is easy to follow for the other members of the cast. use of multi camera production

Many genres of TV shows use the technique of multi-camera, the use of more than one camera in order to capture everything that is happening within the scenes which are usually in fixed or near fixed positions. These TV shows use this technique because of two reasons. One main reason in which they use multi-camera when filming their show is for the aesthetic reason, having more than one camera allows them to capture every scene which is happening throughout the show it allows them to have different angles and shots in order to portray and convey certain feelings and emotions and creates an atmosphere for the audience, it helps to communicate to the audience how the person is feeling  within the scene through the show they use this to make scenes look more exciting dramatic and more appealing to the audience which engages and sustains their interest.  The second reason for why certain TV shows like to use multi camera techniques to film is for the practical reasons, they need the use of multiple cameras in order to be able cover every piece of action that is happening in order to keep the audience’s attention to the action which is taking place within the TV shows mostly which are live channels and live sports channels to keep the viewers attention through out the whole of which ever show is being shown either pre filmed or filmed live.

Live Sports
Live programmes and or channels use this multi camera technique when filming the action happening throughout. Sports live channels usually have lots of scenes which are generally very fast paced which need to be covered at every angle showing the audience every element and excitement of what is happening multi camera technique helps build tension and suspense within the action and addresses the style of mode within the programmes it creates a specific atmosphere in which they are going for towards the audience excitement, tension and suspense. For example Belator MMA live fights have a lot of action taking place during the fight the action changes quickly and so needs to be covered at every angle we can see this from 2:03 2:06 and 2:09 of the video where the camera changes and switches position and angle in order to capture every scene and every angle of the fight taking place that is taking place as the fight is fast paced and the elements are changing quickly this helps to maintain the viewing pleasure of the audience. This also allows  the audience to be able to see every element of the fight the shots are quick fast paced and exciting which helps maintain the audiences attention and increases their viewing pleasure. At 1:40 seconds the camera is placed at a high angle getting both fighters in it is showing the main action taking place trying to keep the camera on the fighters and the action to maintain the viewers attention, this high shot creates an intense and tension filled atmosphere through what happens during the fight at 1:50 of the fight one of the fighters gets hit to the ground during the opening seconds of the fight which creates an exciting tension filled atmosphere it keeps the audience in suspense with whether or not the fight has ended at this time of the fight we can see and hear the audiences excitement and tension increase substantially, it fills them with suspense and maintains their interest as there is a lot of fast paced high tension shots taking place. These shots make the the audience feel a sense of excitement and suspense which builds on the atmosphere that MMA want to be created as exciting highly tension filled and serious which helps with gaining and sustaining the audiences attention.

Talent shows
Talent shows integrate the use of multi camera within their production, within talent shows there are lots of things that need to be captured slightly less than live sport but still quite a bit of action which can only be captured through multi camera. Talent shows use multi camera to engage with the audience it allows the audience to see what is happening through different angles and perspectives and to see how people are feeling and allows them to establish what the atmosphere is of the room. In Britain's got talent they use the use of multi camera techniques, there are a range of cameras capturing every action and also peoples reactions to address the mode of address in which the show is using. at 0:07 of the video the camera turns to one of the judges which gives the audience a small insight to what the atmosphere is going to be like at this point the atmosphere is quite lively and engaging and interesting for the audience this is shown through the reaction of both the judges and the audience at 0:12 we can see a small shot the audiences reaction to the contestant this gives the viewer of the perspective from another point. The shot at 2:19 allows the audience to see the performance from another perspective as well as view the reaction of the audience as well as the judges which adds to the excitement and atmosphere the range of shots make it look exciting and fast paced which allows the show to maintain the viewers excitement throughout the show. multi camera allows talent shows to gain the reaction from the audience as well as the judges which helps to create an atmosphere as well as establishes a mode of address as exciting and fast paced which grabs the audiences and viewers attention. Another reason for why live Talent shows use multi camera is that it is live by shooting live with multi camera they reduce the amount of time as there is no editing required as it is all done live and filmed with a range of cameras covering every angle and aspect of the talent show and the action taking place.

Concerts
Concerts use multi camera techniques in filming their shots to cover everything that is happening at that specific time, the cameras are placed at different angles in order to capture the feeling and reaction of the crowd and of what is happening. The cameras help to establish the location as well as the mode of address for a specific type of concert which is taking place. at 0:02 seconds of the video the camera is placed at a high angle and is lowly lit this shot type is known as the establishing shot and helps to establish the location of the concert it also captures some of the audiences feelings and emotions during the opening which helps to set the mode of address which in this case is exciting and intense. The cameras switch from shot to shot showing a range of things happening whilst also capturing the audiences reaction, for example at 0:21 to 0:38 there is a slow pan getting gradually closer to the singer this builds up suspense for the audience and creates and exciting and suspense filled atmosphere which keeps the viewers attention and interest. The use of cameras in this concert help show how people are feeling when the singer begins singing at 1:07 of the video the camera shortly after pans to the audience and shows their reaction and how they are feeling and allows the viewer to see every aspect of the concert as if they were actually there themselves watching it the shots are slow paced slow pans and it is lowly lit in the hall the slow pans of the camera on to the artist as well as the audience make the artist look sophisticated and classy towards the audience it creates a calm exciting and suspense filled atmosphere which keeps the audiences attention focused and sustained throughout the whole piece of action throughout the whole concert.

Game shows
Game shows use the technique of multi camera when filming the game show, they have a range of different cameras at places and different angles of the set in the studio in order to capture every shot and angle of the show, this would be difficult to capture with the use of single camera. At the beginning of the game show we can see a establishing shot of the studio at 0:40 seconds this gives the audience a look at the studio and shows perhaps what the mode of address will be. The lighting is low around the cube this gives a sense of suspense and tension for the audience the camera allows the audience and viewer to capture the reaction of the audience and the participants which helps to highlight the feeling within the studio of tension at 3:17 after he answer the camera pans and goes to the contestants family and has a close ups of their faces and their reactions they have the look of suspense on their faces which  builds tension with the audience and viewer at home with shots back to the contestant then to an overhead shot with suspenseful music in the back to build tension and to grab the audiences attention and sustain it, the camera has an overhead shot to show the game and to build suspense to see if he is correct at 4:00 the camera has a low angle of his foot which highlights the one he has chosen to go for the camera then pans then again pans to the audience and the family for their reactions the camera shot goes to above the cube and stays there slowly getting closer to build suspense, we can also gain how the contestant is feeling from the camera shots and angles, the shot at 4:28 in the video shows a close up of his face with a smaller version of the game beside him to give a view of how he sees it as well as to build tension for the viewers and the audience within the studio at that particular game. Another reason for why the game show the cube uses multi camera is in order to capture everything that is happening game shows are usually very fast paced with many things happening at once they need to capture everything which is happening and every angle of the action. the camera shows all the games and captures what is happening outside as well as inside of the cube from every angle allowing the viewer to see everything happening within the show and from different perspectives this helps to strengthen and highlight the mode of address as being highly suspenseful tension filled serious and very dramatic, we can see this at 4:24 into the video the studio is quiet and the family and audience are both in suspense for the contestants as well as the viewer who is watching the show at home. these all make it look appealing to the audience and helps to create an atmosphere as well as grab and sustain their interest and attention throughout.

Magazine shows
Magazine shows are shows which contain a variety of action throughout which include i many interviews throughout as well as some video clips of action which has been filmed earlier. There are many shows which are magazine shows such as Top Gear,The Gadget Show and The One Show which contain interviews with guests and short clips of pre filmed action the one I have chosen is Top Gear. Top Gear uses multi camera techniques to film the action that follows throughout the whole of the show top gear usually consists of challenges and races and test drives done by the crew which usually have lots of areas and angles which need to be covered from everyone's prospective which needs to be filmed which would be near impossible to capture through the use of single camera techniques as their is a lot happening within a short period of time which makes it necessary for this show to use the multi camera techniques. At 7:06 we can see one of the presenters doing a test drive of a new car through the test drives we can see many different angles shots and filters used in order to make it look visually appealing, the show uses lots of different angles from including many close ups of the car and different elements of the car they cut to different angles of the car every 2 to 3 seconds from angle to angle shot to shot of each element of the car to connect with the audience and show them the whole element of the show as well as the car. When he begins to drive the car the camera takes shots from different angles and aspects of the car which are very fast paced the shots are very fast in between each shot and angle which keeps the action moving which helps to maintain the viewers viewing pleasure and interest. The cameras helps to show how people are feeling throughout the show and action being filmed, the camera within the car picks up on how the presenter feels whilst driving the car through his reaction and facial expressions as well as this when the cameras enter the studio after the test drive the camera picks up on the rest of the presenters as well as the some shots of the audience to show how their feeling at that particular moment. at 9:52 the camera picks up on the reaction of the presenter in the car the camera shows that he is feeling excited and happy to be driving the car to the audience which makes the show look more visually appealing to the audience which also highlights both the atmosphere and mode of address of the show as exciting action packed and interesting for the viewers in order to grab and maintain their interest.

Chat Shows
chat shows are shows which bring on celebrities and interview them and show the audience snippets of their work which are usually either interesting action packed or funny which is visually appealing, chat shows are usually very relaxed and funny and interesting, the cameras pick up on this mode of address and atmosphere through the shots and shot angles they film including many mid shots and wide angle shots the shots are usually slower paced than other multi camera shows but still maintain the audiences interest through the interviews and response of the participants the shows atmosphere is very jokey and not very serious which the cameras pick up on in the opening of the show from 0:20 seconds in to the show we can see the guest has already made a joke which gains a few laughs from the audience the presenters and possibly the viewers watching from home this not only creates and highlights the atmosphere of the show but also makes the show look interesting and grabs the audiences attention from the start of the show to keep them interested from the beginning in order to sustain their interest.Although the shots are not as fast as other shows they are still fairly fast they go back and forth in between the guests and the presenters not just still in one area which is not as visually appealing as multi camera techniques. The camera cuts in between the cast to get wide angles to get everyone in the shot to gain how everyone is feeling and to gain their reaction the cameras do not stay in one set place but have quick shots from different angles in order to capture everyone to see what their doing saying and their facial reactions the show mostly consist of close ups of their faces to capture how their feeling. At 2:00 we can see a wide shot which contains everyone after the guest has made his joke the camera shows this shot to show the audience to capture the feeling within the studio which helps to maintain the atmosphere and mode of address of the show and to keep it interesting for the audience.  The show contains many wide and different varieties of different shots between the whole show maintaining  the viewers pleasure and interesting keeping the show interesting exciting and continually visually appealing throughout the whole show for the audience.
